Sharpening end mills by grinding off the bottom never made sense to me, rarely are we plunging, most cutting is with the side. Of course the idea with bottom sharpening is remove enough off the bottom to get to a 'fresh' bit of side, but lobbing off 1/2" with a zip cutter then tuning up the end seemed wasteful.

Most of the time I'm using the end of the cutter (the 1st 20 to 60 thouhs) and when that gets dull, I simply use the bench grinder to hand sharpen the end; grind it back put the reliefs on (without reducing the diameter).
